Texas Instruments Licenses WIDCOMM's Bluetooth for Windows Software; Agre=
ement to Focus on High-Performance Bluetooth Designs for Notebook and Deskt=

DCOMM Inc., a leader in short-range wireless communications and Bluetooth(T=
M) networking, and Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) (NYSE:TXN), the worl=
d leader in digital signal processing (DSP) and analog technologies, today =
announced a licensing agreement to incorporate WIDCOMM's Bluetooth for Wind=
ows(R) (BTW) software stack in a series of advanced reference designs for W=
indows-based notebook and desktop PCs. Under the terms of the agreement, TI=
has licensed WIDCOMM's Bluetooth Protocol Software for Windows to use with=
a variety of TI reference designs for mini-PCI, PC cards, USB modules and =
USB dongle form factors. These TI reference designs provide PC OEMs, as wel=
l as contract manufacturers, a complete Bluetooth solution for notebook and=
desktop PCs that includes WIDCOMM's Bluetooth 1.1 certified software and T=
I's hardware to meet their platform-specific needs. TI will also benefit =
from sublicensing rights for WIDCOMM's BTW software, a complete communicati=
ons software solution that provides Bluetooth wireless technology for the W=
indows platform. In May 2001, WIDCOMM's BTW completed official Bluetooth Sp=
ecial Interest Group (SIG) certification for compliance with the requiremen=
ts of the Bluetooth Specification version 1.1, and the BTW software also su=
