It's that time of year again...Thanksgiving. And with it comes the
beginning of another festive holiday season. During this hectic time,
you'll tend to do things that are out of your normal routine: shopping
at the mall for hours on end, snacking in-between meals, eating out and
traveling. This crazy schedule can often affect you and your blood
sugar - sometimes you may not even realize it. The ADA has resources
that can help.

TASTY THANKSGIVING RECIPES...

WONDERIN' WHAT TO DO WITH THE LEFTOVER TURKEY?...
Bored with the same old leftover-turkey-day-after Thanksgiving meal?
Then try something new!
Spicy Turkey Chili (6 servings at 1 cup each)
2 onions, chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
? c green pepper, chopped
1 T olive oil
1 lb. diced turkey meat (cooked)
2 c pinto or kidney beans
2 c canned tomatoes, with liquid
1 cup low-sodium chicken broth
2 T chili powder
2 t cumin
Fresh Ground pepper

In large saucepan, saute onion, garlic and green pepper in olive oil for
10 minutes. Add diced turkey and stir until seasoned. Add remaining
ingredients, bring to a boil, lower heat and then simmer, uncovered, for
30 minutes. Add additional chili powder if you like your chili extra
spicy.

Per serving:
1 ? Starch exchange
2 lean meat exchanges
220 calories
4 grams fat, 1 saturated
23 grams carbohydrate
25 grams protein
175 mg sodium
51 mg cholesterol

T - Tablespoon
t- teaspoon
c - cup
